Heroes

If I called someone a “hero” in a story or movie, what sort of qualities would you expect him/her to have? What are examples of “heroes” in modern movies/books?

If someone asked me to describe a hero that would be easy. Powerful, smart, resourceful, noble, brave, "god-like." These are only a few. But in modern day, we think of heroes like Superman for example. He saves lives, he is smart, and he has super natural powers. Most people or characters viewed as heroes in todays society have some sort of supernatural ability or they have the technology to make them so. Such as Iron Man. He does not have powers by himself, but the suit he wears enables him so be "super."

When I hear the word "hero" I think of someone that has many good qualities. Some examples of the qualities would be caring, brave, kind, empathetic, selfless, and someone that has done something heroic to help someone or something. For someone to be considered a hero they would most likely have had to have done something that most people wouldn't be brave enough or kind enough to do.
A typical example of a hero would be superman. He saves the city everytime by destroying evil, which is his heroic act. By getting rid of the evil people, he is saving lives. This makes him a hero because he is fighting evil (which not many people would be brave enough to do), and he is saving lives and a city by doing this.
Spiderman is another common hero that is known for saving the citizens of his town by using his abnormal powers for the better. He has the ability to cling to walls, he is extra strong, and he has another sense that alerts him to danger. He uses them all to rid evil and save the people of his city. There are many heros out there, but the things that make them all the same are their kind qualities and heroic behaviors.

some qualities that a "hero" would have would be mind reading, extreme speed, and the list goes on and on. also, a hero is not only defined by what his/her "super power" is, but always what he does. for example, a super hero is defined bu how many citizens he has saved, or how many times he was saved the world.
a modern example of a hero would have to be superman. he is the most famous of all the super heros, and is know throught the world. he can fly, deflect bullets, and has laser vision.

Hero's are a very broad term. There are many types of heros, and they all do different things. Some heros are the typical ones. For example, superman is a commonly used example of a hero. He is strong, powerful, and smart. That is what people usually think of when they hear the word hero. However, there is another type of hero that is very important as well.

This hero isn't extremely strong, or smart, they just care. They do things for their community and are generally polite to everyone and do the best they can do. They may fail unlike the typical hero, but the thing is, they will get back up and keep trying. There are many in the world, and most of them don't recieve the appreciation that they should.

An example of a hero in a book would be Oedipus. He cares about the people of Thebes, the town he rules. He wants to get them better and heal the town. However, his egotisticle side is preventing him from being a true hero. That is another kind of hero, the ones who have a flaw that leads to their downfall. They are called tragic heros, and they don't end up with a happy ending.

There are numerous amounts of heros, and they aren't only the typical ones. Some may be right infront of you. You just need to open your eyes, and see how the simplist of people can be heroes.

Someone who is a hero should be a great leader, responsible, and be able to get out of tough situations with a paperclip and apple core (like McGuyver).
Nowadays, we think of heroes as the ones we see on tv or in movies, like Superman, Spiderman, Batman, etc., but there are many other types of heroes. For example, Obama is alot of people's heroes who agreed with what he says he will do. Even though he can't fly (I think) and can't fight badguys all day (but you never know...) he is still a hero to many people.

In ancient Greece, many famous stories and plays revolve around the concept of a hero. Their ideal hero was someone who was powerful, royal and brave. These common themes appear in the play Oedipus which revolves around the central idea of a tragic hero. A tragic hero is simply a hero who has a major weakness. This idea of a tragic hero has been carried throughout the ages and can occasionally be found in modern literature and entertainment.

In modern times, a hero is expected to contain qualities such as strength, bravery, wisdom, empathy and loyalty. These heroes sometimes do possess a weakness. An example of this concept is found in the extremely popular Harry Potter. The third book contains a character named Sirius Black who can be considered a tragic hero. His weakness was his love for Harry Potter being that he was Harry's godfather. Sirius knew he was going to die when he began to fight for Harry, but he continued blinded by his love. In addition, the fact that he was blamed for a crime he didn't commit and thrown in jail fuels a bad reputation. This becomes key in his flaws which lead to becoming a tragic hero. Some other examples of tragic heroes include Craig Manning and Rick from Degrassi the Next Generation and Tony Soprano from the Sopranos. However, the tragic hero has become less popular on TV probably because they don't necessarily teach a lesson.

When someone says the word "hero," I always tend to think about powers. In my opinion and in many people's opinions as well, a hero is classified as someone with power, leadership, someone who has intelligence, brave, loyal to the community, and self-sacrificing. All of these things are things we believe a hero is. Batman and Superman are a very popular examples. Both super heroes saved lives and risked their own just to what is right. Batman didn't have powers, but he had the ability to create things that made him seem like he did. Superman on the other hand did have powers. He could fly and he was very muscular which gave him the power of strength. In modern day, we classify any hero as someone with they ability to have powers or do magnificent things.

When you hear someone call something or someone else a hero, I few qualities immediately jump to mind. One of them might be brave. A hero is known as someone who isn't afraid to stand up for themselves or others. They also might be protective of his loved ones and even of strangers. Hero's are very self-sacrificing and are willing to risk their own lives for the sake of someone else's, even if that person is a stranger.
Some examples of modern day heros would be batman or superman. They would be examples of hero's because they save lives, as well as risk their lives for other people. This means that they are willing to do anything for anyone at anytime.

-In today's modern society there are two classes of heroes, normal heroes, and super heroes. Each of these have their own characteristics. A normal hero is the type of hero popular on mediums such as the news and realistic movies. They are the type of person that isn't too strong or smart, but is incredibly brave and self sacrificing. A firefighter is a great example of this type of hero, and they can be found in movies like Ferinheight 9/11. Normal heroes are the type of average citizen that commit great acts of bravery like pulling a child out of a burning wreck, or jumping on a robber (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0CYd91eg2g)
__
-The other class of hero is a super hero. This type of hero can be defined by their heightened strength, courage, or intelligence. They usually use their amplified abilities to do cliche things like stop burglars and save the world from an invading superpower. There are no examples of this type of hero in the real world, but they are very popular in comic books. In fact, most of the super hero stereotypes come from popular American comics like Batman and Superman. Super heroes are such a popular subject matter that almost every single widely know super hero has multiple movies of their own. These include things like the Spider Man trilogy, and the Dark Knight.

I would expect this someone to be courageous and modest, with his/her own power to be great. This person would be smart, not necessarily a bookworm or a mathematician, but wise in what is important. These days, in movies such as I Am Legend, the hero is someone who does something that helps something/someone else. The hero does something that makes a difference, no matter how big or small, for something other than themselves.
On another note, I believe that our views of what a hero would be depends on out own character. Someone who absolutely abhors books wouldn't see a hero as someone who is a reader. Yet, the main essence of a hero remains the same as someone who is 'good', even if it a general term.

If someone asked me to describe the qualities of a hero I would say the usual-- brave, smart, powerful, sacrificing, selfless, influential, and also tough. But I think that for someone to be a hero, they don't necessarily have to have all of these traits or qualities. I believe it is the random selfless acts we do that can define us as heros no matter how big or how small. The qualities of a hero can be different for all of us.
A common example of a hero would be Batman. He saves lives and protects the people of Gotham City. He is heroic in the sense that he gives up his life to protect other peoples'. But sometimes with heroes, especially Batman, we see that sometimes they aren't perfect and that even they have flaws and problems too.

A hero can be described in many ways. They are determined, self sacrificing, loyal, resourceful, focused, and gallant. Of course there are many more, but these are a few of the qualities of a hero. Most of the time we tend to think of heroes as tough, muscular, able to fly and those who go and do brave things that ordinarily most would not do. We think of batman, spiderman, and other popular comic book heroes as almost supernatural beings that every city should employ for protection. But another class of heroes are the everyday ones. People like the ordinary working class citizen, firemen, first responders and those working in hospitals. policemen and women, and especially those in our armed forces. These people risk their lives and help others every day, and exhibit every quality i mentioned above. They are the ones we should be thanking for their services to our country and community.

If someone were to ask me to describe a hero, I would tell them that a hero has to be brave, intelligent, self-sacrificing, and other things. An example of a hero would be a superhero, like say Spiderman. These people in books and movies are thought of as heros because they willingly risk they're lives for other people. What I don't think people in modern days realize as much, though, is that people like firefighters and police officers are just as much heros as Superman and Batman are. They fight crime and risk their lives everyday for our communities, and they have all the qualities that people want in a hero. A hero can be many things, but lots of people have their set opinions and don't let that change.

When I think of a hero, I think about heroes like superman, batman etc. Other heroic figures in movies and books are shown a lot in children stories, like Hercules. Heroic qualities that come to mind for me are things like bravery, intelligent, strong, unselfish, and courageous. Heroes’ qualities should outshine other qualities. Modern heroes in real life could include people like war heroes, who do extremely courageous actions that outshine other soldiers. Heroes in modern movies/books are shown in the latest batman movie. He has man heroic qualities, such as super strength and bravery. Hero’s are present in everyday, but not on as large of a scale as in movies.

The qualities belonging to a hero are numerous. Heroes are brave, role-models, and wise. Their bravery makes them stand out from others, to make them responsible and dependable. Being a role model means doing good deeds and hoping that others will follow in those habits or ways of life. A hero must be wise, so that he can answer a question with a great amount of insight and make sure that whoever receives the answer understands completely.
Even so, heroes aren’t without faults. The most commonly portrayed fault a hero has is self-sacrifice. While it can be good to save another, self-sacrifice stops heroes from making decisions. Heroes will always give themselves up for an innocent bystander or pedestrian who gets caught in the fray. It is just who they are. This is the flaw that leads to their downfall.

In my opinion, a hero doesn't need to have superhuman strength to be classified as a a hero. When I think of a hero, I think of someone whose intelligent, resourceful, confident, brave, self- sacrificing, and kind. A typical hero would be Batman. He has all of the qualities that I listed. Batman is smart, he allows the city to hate him in order to help it, and he doesn't need glory. He doesn't need to tell anyone who he really is because he doesn't care about that. He only wants to help his city. Another good example of a hero would Harry Potter. Even though he doesn't have physical strength, he is resourceful, caring, brave, and definitely self-sacrificing. They are both very different characters but they are both what I consider heroes.

One of the most over used words that has been taken almost completely out of context is hero. Modern society molded the term hero as someone that did something nice, or brave. This completely leaves out an entire notion of what being a hero actually meant during the time the term was first coined. That is that heroes, although being the example of justice and all that is good, do in fact display at least one wrongdoing or ongoing sin. This sin is commonly pride, which would fit the standard of a hero, as constant praise would make anyone get an ego.
This is an important trait that I think is necessary for any hero. I also find that a hero needs something that sets him above everyone else. Not quite a super power, but more so a distinguishable ability or a seat of power.

The word hero can be described many different ways, depending on who you ask. If I was to describe a hero, it would be someone who is self-sacrificing. Someone who will do anything to help others, even if it means putting himself/herself in danger. Another quality I believe a hero should have is bravery. A hero may need to stand up to somebody and if they don't have the nerve to do it, it may result badly. A very important quality a hero should have is kindness. They should want to help out of the bottom of their hearts, otherwise there is no purpose in being a hero if it has no effect on you.
There are many fictional movie characters such as Superman, Batman, and Spiderman that we classify as heroes. They are heroes and possess every characteristic I mentioned above.

In american movies and books, a hero, for the most part, is extremely smart, resourceful, strong, brave, "double lived", and they also have some god-like or supernatural powers. For example, spider-man. He climbs up buildings with ease, he shoots spider-like silk from his wrists, and he finds ways to defeat other super-powered villans. After he finishes his crime fighting, he returns to mild mannered pizza delivery boy, Peter Parker. This allows the public to relate to him in a way; he has normal problems along with his super ones.

A hero is usually connected with animated movies like Hercules or action figures like Superman and Batman. In these cases, the heroes are strong and have superhuman powers. However, a hero doesn't necessarily have to be perfect, or incredibly strong, or be able to fly. In many modern cases heroes are ordinary people who you wouldn't even pick out of a crowd. What makes these people heroes though is what they do for others. A hero has to be self-sacrificing, empathetic, brave, and be able to be a leader. A modern example of a hero is Jack Shepard from the TV show "Lost." Jack is a doctor who is always set on fixing everything and helping everyone, no matter what. However, Jack is definitely not perfect, having a drinking problem and many family issues. What makes Jack a hero, though, is that he helps everyone around him on the island, saving numerous lives, and he takes charge as the leader of the plane crash survivors.

A hero can be described in many different ways. To me, a hero is someone who is brave. Without bravery, you would not be able to accomplish things that make a hero a hero. A hero stands out from the crowd and does things that people wouldn't normally do. Also a hero is someone who is smart and a strong person. Hero's need to be able to make the right decisions and get through problems that may be difficult to deal with.

Hero's can go under a few different definitions. Hero's can do small things and they can also do very big things. Everyone looks at someone different as a hero. Some people may look at a parent or sibling as a hero and other people may look at super-hero's as hero's. For example, Superman is a very common hero with people. Superman is a fictional character with traits that seem to be very helpful and save many people. These are the kind of hero's that save people and everything around them. Another example, is a parent. A parent can be a hero just by taking care of you.

No matter who you are, you must look at someone as a hero. Hero's are people we look upon. We look upon them for advise and hope that they can lead us into good decisions. Everyone should try to be a hero in their own way. Hero's are everywhere.

Heros are known for being "god-like" and having supernatural powers. When we were kids, we grew up watching tv shows and movies about super heros like batman, spiderman, superman, etc. However, heros don't always have to have powers beyond any ordinary human. Today, a true hero is brave, humble, and confident. For example, in many war movies, there is always that one character who goes above and beyond to show that they're a true hero by risking their life to save someone else or fight for someones freedom.

In a story or movie a hero would be expected to have some type of power. It could be super strength or brains, but a hero is almost always viewed as having super powers. Although they are special, a hero is always a human. A famous hero that everyone knows of is Spiderman. Spiderman can shoot webs and save the world, but he can always take off his mask and go back to being normal. Important character traits of a hero are usually modesty, kindness, and being self-sacrificing. If your a hero, you would risk your life to be able to save your people no matter what.

In many stories and movies there is one character that plays the role of the here. That character would be expected to show bravery and leadership. It would need those traits so that he/she could accomplish whatever tast it is in the story or movie that makes them a hero. A hero can't be a hero without doing a deed that would give them that title. For example, although superman has special abilities he would not be considered a hero if he didn't do the deed of saving people's lives.
